Hi, and welcome to all my very talented, and craft loving friends.
My DH got rushed into hospital in the early hours of Sunday morning with a suspected stroke again.
We sat around AE for 12 hours waiting for decisions on whether to admit him.
We arrived at the hospital at 2.45 AM and were not seen by anybody till 4.00Am, and that was a nurse taking blood, and doing blood pressures.
Finally we saw a Doctor at 8.15AM, and then was asked to wait in the waiting room again.
At 12.Pm after seeing 2 more Doctors we were told they would like to admit him, but didn't have a bed till 3.00PM.
I know the health service is stretched, and they do their best, but we sat on very hard seats all that time, and my poor hubby was so uncomfortable, and feeling so poorly, and of course frightened.
After all he is 79 years of age too.
Home again now, but having trouble moving around, and doing things.
So I may not be around much for a while.
I made my card for the Rudolf Challenge last week, and as it's not my turn to DT I can join in the challenge.
As always it's anything goes as long as it's Christmas and
ONE ENTRY PER PERSON.

This is a 6"x6" size card.
I started by stamping my background paper with a freebie stamp and Memento Northern Pine Ink.
Then I stamped my Red Cardinal in Versafine Ink and heat embossed it.
Coloured it in with Promarkers.
Then I added some glue in dots, and used faux snow for the falling snow.
Sentiments were freebie stamps also.

A gorgeous card, Jenny. So sorry to hear about your hubby. I hope he makes a speedy recovery. My daughter is a student doctor. Everything is stretched to breaking point in the NHS at the moment
ReplyDeleteA gorgeous card Jenny, love that colour green. Sorry to hear about hubby. I had a similar experience when my daughter fell down the stairs. I ended up being there all night and didn't leave till about 8.30 in the morning. They are just so overstretched, it's terrible. I hope he soon recovers x
ReplyDeleteHope your husband feels better soon. I know the health service do the best they can with limited resources but when you are ill, uncomfortable and worried it doesn't feel like that at the time!

ReplyDeleteAww, Jenny, so sorry to read about your husband's horrible experience, so distressing for you both. I know from experience how long that wait seems when you are worried about someone. I'm sure the NHS staff do their best, the numbers just don't add up...too many patients to too few staff! Something needs to be done! I really hope he's feeling better now he's at home, take care of yourself too.

Oh my Jenny how distressing for you both, what an awful experience. Unfortunately English NHS does seem to be worse than ours here in Scotland. I try never to criticise the Health Service, because I fear it won't be long until we won't have one, and then we will really be in trouble unless were belong to the elite. I do hope your Husband is alright, and gets the support he needs.

Your card is beautiful. That faux snow really is impressive on your card front. The robin looks so real and that snow makes it even more so!

I was so upset for you to read of your long wait for help at the hospital. Considering that clot busting drugs have to start within 3 hours of symptoms, they did not do a good job with the triage of your husbands symptoms.

Hugs to you both after that terrible experience. I agree with scrappymo about starting the drugs quickly when a stroke is suspected. That is nothing to take your time about. Thankfully it was not that. Your card is lovely and the snow on the cardinal is a beautiful touch. The verse inside is so nice.

So sorry to hear of your husbands plight. Hope he will be fully recovered now he is home again. Hospitals are not the nicest of places to sit and wait around. Your card is gorgeous as ever. I love the red cardinal. very majestic looking. Hugs Mrs A.

Oh Jenny this card is beautiful! I'm so so sorry to hear of your awful ordeal and I truly hope your husband is on the mend. It's shocking how stretched the nhs is, I also think it varies in different areas, my son's girlfriend collapsed after a night out last night, ambulance arrived straight away and they had a bed immediately and was looked after until she was discharged. Theu think her drink was spiked but it's so worrying when your husband needed the care and didn't get it. Sending lots of love, hope you feel better too xx

ReplyDeleteI am really sorry to hear your hubby was so poorly. I hope he mends, albeit slowly. The NHS does seem to be struggling. That is far too long to wait for a suspected stroke. Take it easy, and give your time to him for a while. Prayers for you both. Kate P. xx
